degostudio is an award-winning architecture and urban design office with global vision based in Istanbul, Turkey and managed by partners Volkan Taşkın, Özge Meriç and Nedim Ağalar.
Having all held positions at the highest levels in our industry, the partners joined forces to create a new, fresh paradigm. One that is based on hard work, team ethic and flexibility.
We continue to provide project and consulting services to a wide range of private and public sector clients, collaborating with professionals from different fields for best-in-class solutions. Our portfolio consists of a diversified set of projects and scales from urban design to interiors.
At degostudio we recognize we have a big responsibility towards our clients and their brief. We take this responsibility seriously and we use our broad expertise to deliver our projects to our exacting standards and to our clients’ specification.
Over the years degostudio has expanded its portfolio to include residential complexes, office buildings and civic buildings such as public libraries, healthcare facilities, education complexes and sports centers.
In April 2017 our practice moved to its current location in Tünel, a vibrant and historic quarter of İstanbul.
We continue to broaden our horizons, utilizing new mediums, the latest in technology and new paradigms in design. We look forward to collaborating with you.
MSc. Architect (ITU)
The founding partner, Volkan Taşkın has broad international design experience. His international design projects executed in locations as varied as Croatia, Russia, Brazil and Turkmenistan include but are not limited hospitality projects, education complexes and conference centers.
He has also undertaken several projects in Turkey for international clients, including but not limited to Glencore Turkey Headquarters, IFC Turkey Headquarters and Al Baraka Turkey Headquarters.
Apart from his architectural practice, Volkan was among the participants selected to represent Turkey in the 2005 Rotterdam International Biennale of Architecture. In 2013, he participated in the international refurbishment efforts of the Galata Rum School. He produced and presented the ongoing weekly radio show Open Architecture on Open Radio between 2012 and 2014. He has also written extensively for and been interviewed by a broad range of cultural and arts publications.
Volkan has broad experience working for various architectural practices and a multitude of construction sites.
Born in Istanbul in 1981, Volkan graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in Architecture. Volkan received his master’s degree in Architectural Design in 2016 from the same university.
Architect (MSGSU)
Managing partner Özge Meriç has vast experience working on large complex projects. These projects range from post-earthquake social housing to onshore housing and entertainment complexes for international oil rig workers to transportation hubs. She has designed projects in Haiti, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
Since 2016 Özge has been one of the managing partners of degostudio where she has headed up teams which completed residential, educational and public works projects. She is also an expert in public works projects.
Özge has worked as an architect in various offices since 2012. She serves as the resident specialist in BIM software for degostudio.
Aside from her own architecture practice, Özge has also participated in varied activities in her field. In 2011, she worked as an architect on the archaeological sites at Hierapolis and Laodicea. In 2013, she participated in the International 5T Conference on “Gender Perspectives in Design” as a keynote speaker.
Born in Istanbul in 1990. Özge graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University with a degree in Architecture. She currently continues her studies on her master’s degree in Architectural Design at Istanbul Technical University.
Nedim serves as Business Strategy and Project Management Partner, having joined degostudio in 2017.
Nedim’s responsibilities at degostudio include client relationships, contract negotiations and business strategy.
His experience gained over the years working in New York, London and İstanbul include project management, process management, strategic planning and business analysis.
Born in London in 1980. After graduating from Robert College, Ağalar graduated from Colgate University with a major in International Relations in 2005.
